What We're Made Of

We built Animique from the base up. Here's exactly what that means.

Most room and linen sprays you'll find on the shelf have one thing in common: they're mostly alcohol. Denatured ethanol, propylene glycol, synthetic carriers. The fragrance is strong. The ingredient list is short on context. And if you've ever wondered whether all that mist is okay for your dog stretched out on the couch next to you — you're not overthinking it.

The Base

Every Animique formula starts with water and witch hazel — together, these make up the overwhelming majority of what's in the bottle. Witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana extract) has been used for centuries as a gentle botanical toner. It's effective, it's familiar, and it doesn't carry the respiratory concerns that come with heavy alcohol bases.

Ethanol is present in our formulas at 1–3% by weight — a trace amount used as part of the emulsion system. For context, many conventional sprays use alcohol as their primary carrier at 50–70%. That's not a small difference.

The Fragrance

Our fragrance components are individually assessed synthetic fragrance compounds, present at trace levels with most individual ingredients at less than 0.05% by weight. All are formulated within IFRA 51 standards for Category 12 room and linen spray use — the global benchmark for fragrance safety in consumer products.

We know these ingredient names appear on pet sensitivity lists online. Context matters: documented sensitivity cases involve concentrated products applied directly to animals — not trace-level room sprays misted onto fabric. Our sprays are designed for indirect use only. Not applied to animals. Not diffused at high concentration. Misted into the air and onto fabric, as directed.

What's Not in the Bottle

Free of phthalates, parabens, formaldehyde-releasing preservatives, and California Prop 65 listed ingredients. Nothing harsh, nothing hidden.
