Pet-Safe Standards
Luxury should never come at the expense of peace of mind. At Animique, every formula begins with one question: Can this live beautifully in a home with pets? Our answer is intentional formulation, responsible usage guidance, and complete transparency.
FAQs
What is Animique?
Animique makes luxury linen and room sprays formulated with pets (and people) in mind. Every formula is built on a water-and-witch-hazel base — not harsh solvents or heavy alcohol — with trace amounts of IFRA-compliant fragrance. The result is a scent experience that feels elevated without the compromise.
What's actually in an Animique spray?
The short answer: mostly water and witch hazel (together, that's roughly 75–90% of every formula), a gentle emulsifier, and a small amount of ethanol. Fragrance components make up a fraction of the rest — most individual fragrance ingredients are present at less than 0.05% by weight. Nothing harsh, nothing hidden.
Do fragrance notes mean each spray contains those exact ingredients?
No. Fragrance notes describe the scent profile of each spray, not the full ingredient list or the concentration of individual fragrance materials. Animique sprays are finished linen and room sprays made for indirect home use around pets when used as directed.
Can I use Animique around pets?
Yes, when used as directed. Animique sprays are formulated for indirect home use around pets: misted onto linens, fabrics, or into the air, not applied directly to animals. Our fragrance ingredients are used at low levels and formulated within IFRA 51 guidance for Category 12 room and linen spray use, and our formulas contain no Prop 65 listed ingredients.
As with any home fragrance, use in ventilated spaces, avoid spraying directly on pets, food or water bowls, toys, litter, or occupied pet bedding, and monitor your pets for any signs of sensitivity.
Do your sprays actually deodorize, or just cover up smells?
Yes, Animique sprays are designed to help deodorize, not just cover up smells.
We believe a home shouldn't just smell "scented"—it should actually be clean. Most traditional sprays use heavy perfumes to "mask" odors, which is why you often end up with a "floral-scented pet" smell. Our sprays are formulated with a dual-action approach: OdorSorb technology helps trap and neutralize odor molecules, while our witch hazel base acts as a natural neutralizer. Instead of a "chemical war" between scents, our formulas clear the space so the light, finished fragrance can actually shine.
What does 'IFRA compliant' mean?
Every fragrance ingredient in our formulas has been assessed against IFRA 51 Standards by our fragrance supplier for Category 12, which covers air fresheners and room sprays. Every single ingredient clears the Category 12 limit. Most by a significant margin — in several cases the permitted limit is 100% and we're using the ingredient at less than 0.05%. We have the certificates on file. It's not a claim we make loosely.
Are the ingredients natural?
Our base ingredients are naturally derived — witch hazel comes from the Hamamelis virginiana plant, and many of our fragrance components are naturally occurring compounds found in botanicals like lavender, citrus, and rose. Some fragrance molecules are nature-identical (synthetically produced versions of compounds that occur in nature). We believe in being transparent about what's in the bottle — not hiding behind vague 'natural' claims.
Can I use Animique around children?
Our formulas are designed to be gentle — low fragrance load, water-based, no harsh solvents. As with any home fragrance product we recommend using as directed and keeping products out of reach of small children. If you have specific concerns about sensitivities we recommend consulting your healthcare provider before use.
Can I spray this on my leather furniture?
We recommend skipping the leather. While our formula is gentle, leather is a porous, natural hide that can be sensitive to moisture and pH changes. To keep your leather supple and prevent any potential spotting or stripping of its natural oils, it’s best to spray High Tide into the air nearby or onto a nearby fabric throw or rug instead. If you do accidentally mist your leather, simply wipe it down with a dry, soft cloth—the low ethanol content (1–3%) makes it much less likely to cause damage than traditional high-alcohol sprays
Are Animique sprays safe for use on delicate linens?
Yes, since we formulate with a water and witch hazel base rather than a high-alcohol carrier, it is much gentler on fibers like silk, lace, or high-thread-count cotton. Our fine-mist actuator ensures the spray lands as a light "cloud" rather than heavy droplets, helping reduce the saturation that can lead to water spots.
Pro Tip: For ultra-delicate or vintage fabrics, we always recommend a quick "spot test" on an inconspicuous corner first.
How much alcohol is in Animique sprays?
Ethanol (grain alcohol) is present at 1–3% by weight in our formulas. By comparison, many conventional room and linen sprays contain 50–70% denatured alcohol as their primary carrier. Ours is used in trace amounts as part of the emulsion system — not as the base. This is a meaningful difference for households with pets and children.
Are your products California Prop 65 compliant?
Yes. None of the ingredients across our full product lineup are listed under California Proposition 65, which identifies chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects, or reproductive harm. Zero listings across the board.
Do you use phthalates, parabens, or formaldehyde?
No. Our formulas do not contain phthalates, parabens, or formaldehyde-releasing preservatives.
How long does the freshness last?
On fabrics and linens, many customers notice the scent lingering for days, while the fragrance in the air naturally softens sooner. Results vary based on surface, airflow, room size, and amount used. Animique is designed to freshen fabrics and rooms while helping neutralize underlying odors, so your space feels cleaner after the initial notes settle.
Why do Safety Data Sheets use technical hazard language?
Safety Data Sheets are regulatory documents written for workplace handling, storage, and shipping. Their hazard language can reflect concentrated or repeated exposure scenarios that are different from normal home use. Animique sprays are finished linen and room sprays intended for indirect use on fabrics or in the air, and they are not classified as dangerous goods for DOT, IATA, or IMDG transport.
Is this an aerosol spray?
No. We use a high-performance fine-mist actuator that is powered by simple mechanical pressure, not chemical propellants like butane or propane. This allows us to deliver that "cloud-like" dispersion you love without chemical propellants like butane or propane. It’s better for your indoor air quality and the planet.
What scents does Animique offer?
Our current collection spans four moods: Petal Theory (Gardenia), a soft, dewy floral; High Tide (Sea & Dune), a clean coastal breath; Pillow Talk (Chamomile Lavender), a warm, calming ease; and Smoke Show (Woody Amber), a rich, grounding warmth. Each was developed to feel like a complete sensory moment — not just a scent.
